Veo 3.1 is Google's video model. On Effect Video you write a text prompt, optionally add one reference photo, and make clips at 720p, 1080p or 4k (4, 6 or 8 seconds for text only; fixed 8 seconds when you use a photo), with the total credits shown before you generate. This guide also collects what Google, creators and the community have published about it.

What Veo 3.1 does

Google introduced Veo 3.1 on the Google Developers Blog as part of new creative capabilities in the Gemini API, and covered the model's updates in Flow on the Google blog.

On October 15, 2025, Google DeepMind on YouTube published "Veo 3.1 - Designed to empower creatives"; its description mentions audio across Ingredients to Video, Frames to Video, and Extend. On January 13, 2026, Google DeepMind on X announced an update to Veo 3.1 Ingredients to Video aimed at more expressive, dynamic clips and better visual consistency. The same day, Google DeepMind on X posted that Veo now has "state-of-the-art upscaling to 1080p and 4K resolutions", a claim from Google itself.

For platform integrations, the KIE Veo 3.1 interface documentation describes the upstream interface behind this integration.

What creators and the community say

On November 1, 2025, Roboverse on YouTube released a full Veo 3.1 tutorial. On November 4, 2025, Dan Kieft on YouTube published a deep dive on Veo 3.1 and Sora 2 titled "Google Veo 3.1 Deep Dive - Does it Beat Sora 2?".

Creators are also using Veo 3.1 inside multi-tool projects. On October 7, 2026, Rubens Soto on X shared a 90-second film about human civilization on Mars, crediting Veo 3.1 Lite for video, Fish Audio S2.1 Pro for voice and Lyria 3 Pro for music. On October 10, 2026, Aegon on X posted a miniature aerospace diorama made with Veo 3.1, together with the JSON prompt (a 10-second, 16:9, 4K spec).

On June 29, 2026, Zentrix on X compared Veo 3.1 with Seedance 1.5 using the same prompts and scenes, and wrote that "movement feels governed by real weight". On October 10, 2026, Ninja on X shared a clip from free Gemini video generation, which lists Veo 3.1 Quality, Veo 3.1 Fast and Gemini Omni, and called the results "Not perfect, but pretty solid for 8–10 second clips." That verdict covers the whole toolset, not Veo 3.1 alone.

On Reddit, r/VEO3 has a thread from October 17, 2025 titled Tried Veo 3.1 First and last Frame and an October 23, 2025 post, VEO 3.1 short film. In r/singularity, an October 15, 2025 post is titled Will Smith Eating Spaghetti in Veo 3.1. On September 23, 2026, r/aitubers posted Google removes Veo 3.1 - Lite from Ultra plan, a reminder that variants and plan access can change on Google's side.

Using it on Effect Video

Veo 3.1 is available on Effect Video: open the generator with Veo 3.1 selected. In the studio you set your inputs, pick clip options and see the total credits before you generate.

The generator takes two inputs: a text prompt and an optional reference photo. Text-only prompts can be 4, 6 or 8 seconds; when you add a photo the length is fixed at 8 seconds. Resolution options are 720p, 1080p and 4k. The generator has no sound setting for Veo 3.1, so audio cannot be switched on or off there.

Pricing is in whole credits and depends on the Veo 3.1 version and the resolution, not on the clip length. The parameter table below reads the current credit prices for each version and resolution from the same source as the generator. The generator shows the total before rendering begins, and failed attempts return reserved credits. Completed videos stay in your account for 7 days, so download them before they expire.

Limits and open questions

The KIE Veo 3.1 documentation describes the upstream interface, which may accept more reference inputs than Effect Video does. Effect Video keeps a streamlined setup of a text prompt and an optional reference photo.

Community posts mention several variants (Veo 3.1 Quality, Fast and Lite), and Google's own plans and apps may change which variant is offered. Those posts do not map to a specific setting on Effect Video, and clips made in Google's tools are not results from this generator. The 10-second 4K figure in the Aegon post comes from the creator's prompt, not from a verified output file. Check the generator for the options offered on Effect Video.
