What Grok Imagine does
Grok Imagine is xAI's video generation model. xAI describes its Grok Imagine API and documents the interface in its video overview; the KIE text-to-video documentation lists the request settings used by the integration on this site.
The official accounts have posted several updates. On August 1, 2026, the Grok account wrote that Imagine Video 1.5 now goes further with text-to-video support, image and voice references, and native 1080p (Grok, August 1, 2026). On October 8, 2026, the Grok Imagine account announced that Video 1.5 Lite is live in the Grok Imagine API for text-to-video and image-to-video (Grok Imagine, October 8, 2026).

On YouTube, JSFILMZ shared first impressions of the Video 1.5 Preview on May 31, 2026 (JSFILMZ video) and published a short film made with Grok Imagine on August 22, 2026 (JSFILMZ video). Yaroflasher posted a same-prompt test of Grok Imagine Video 1.5 against Seedance 2.0 on June 8, 2026 (Yaroflasher video). On X, JSFILMZ tested Video 1.5 Lite on October 9, 2026 and asked whether it might be the cheapest way to test prompts (JSFILMZ post). X Girls shared a short film, made in 48 hours and based on a true story, created with Imagine Video 1.5 on August 1, 2026 (X Girls post). Jay Kay posted "Leaves in Motion," a clip made with Video 1.5, on October 9, 2026 (Jay Kay post). Japanese creator 綴る wrote on October 11, 2026 that, after making four transformation videos from a realistic image, Grok did not seem suited to that kind of video (綴る post).
In the press, David Nield reported for TechRadar on September 17, 2026 about a Grok AI contest that awarded $100k to a "historically accurate" version of the Odyssey, whose entry included a three-eyed cyclops and what the headline calls hilarious physics fails (TechRadar).

Using it on Effect Video

Limits and open questions
Effect Video accepts only the input fields shown in the generator, which for Grok Imagine is a text prompt. xAI's announcement mentions image and voice references, and upstream interfaces may offer additional reference inputs, but these are not available in this generator. Community experiences also differ: some creators share finished clips, while one creator reports poor results with transformation videos and a Reddit thread asks about prompt adherence. The xAI posts above describe Video 1.5 and Video 1.5 Lite, and the creator tests cover Video 1.5, its Preview and Lite; our sources do not say which of these versions the integration behind this generator serves, so those tests are not results from this generator.
